About Me

When looking for a counsellor for your child it is imperative to check that they have the appropriate qualifications and registration to a professional membership body, such as the BACP. It’s important to note that training courses for child counsellors and adult counsellors are very different and, while adult therapists can work with teenagers, specific training is required to work with younger children.

I am a qualified child and adolescent therapist, and my training has equipped me with the skills necessary to work therapeutically with children and young people from the age of 4 up to 18. I have knowledge of child development, neurodevelopmental changes throughout childhood, family networks and support systems, complex needs, and how to work creatively in an age-appropriate way. It isn’t always possible for young people to put into words, or even know, how they feel, so it is vital the therapist is aware of how to sensitively address this and be creative in their approach. With over 25 years experience working with children and young people in a variety of settings, I have a wealth of knowledge which will help me to understand your child and build a therapeutic relationship with them.

I can help your child with many areas of mental health including bullying, self-confidence, anger, bereavement, anxiety, trauma, and divorce/separation.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a member of the Creative Counsellors, a network encouraging the use of arts in therapy.

I hold an Enhanced DBS and also complete Level 3 Safeguarding training every 2 years. Policies are available on request.
